When Spectralate's debut LP 'The Students' Companion' received several plays on BBC's Welsh language radio station Radio Cymru, they decided to repay the favour by recording an EP of Welsh language versions of some of the songs from the LP. Being less than fluent in the language, the duo enlisted the assistance of their friend Marc Rees Jones to help out with the translations. In the end, Spectralate found themselves liking most of these versions in preference to the originals, 'Eirlin' subsequently becoming a staple of their live set. A similar Welsh EP is planned to tie in with the group's second LP.
